ReDisc d.o.o. uses its technology to refurbish or upgrade your carbon-ceramic discs. We also offer minor repairs on CCM and, as the only comapny in the world, the possibility to repair CCB discs.

A) COMPLETE REFURBISHING OF BADLY WORN DISCS

A carbon disc is made up of carbon fibres. When the temperature of the disc is above 700°C, the disc “glow”, the carbon fibres vaporise and air pockets appear. The oxygen that gets between the fibres acts as an insulator. This means that the disc consequently has:

  • Poorer thermal conductivity (does not dissipate as much heat as it would otherwise)
  • Reduced rigidity (uneven braking feel)

1. MECHANICAL PROCESSING

The disc is disassembled, weighed, measured with a wear gauge, inspected for structural damage and, if necessary, X-rayed. This way, structural damage that is not visible to the naked eye can be identified.

We also clean off any residue of brake linings and other contaminants and prepare the disc for further processing.

Brake discs are then impregnated with polymers to fill the air pockets. This process is repeated until the disc reaches its target weight.
After impregnation, we also check whether the disc core is strong enough to continue the process.

2. FILLING

3. INTERNAL PROTECTION

In the third step, the carbon fibres are “coated” to protect them from further vaporisation.

4. EXTERNAL PROTECTION

We apply an OXY COATING to the outer surface. The coating is not applied to the tread surface, only to the outer and inner surface. The coating prevents oxygen from entering the interior of the carbon-ceramic disc. You can choose between two colours: light or dark grey. The red colour in the picture is symbolic and used only for illustrative purposes.

5. FINAL MECHANICAL PROCESSING
The surface is then sanded to achieve a clean and perfectly flat friction surface. The disc is then sent to be checked, where it is reweighed and rebalanced. The discs are also re-measured with a wear gauge and, if necessary, imaged with an X-ray machine. On average, a brake disc has a higher weight (up to 180 g) and reaches its target weight. We provide a certificate for each disc.Note: The refurbished brake discs are slightly thinner than the original parts due to the repair process, but have a higher density. This means that refurbished discs have a longer lifespan.

B) UPGRADING NEW OR SLIGHTLY USED DISCS

We offer a special treatment to improve the density of new or slightly used carbon ceramic discs. We also address any shortcomings in the standard process. The process removes other structural anomalies, improving thermal conductivity.

When carrying out an upgrade we use carbon fibre protection technology.

And protection with an oxy coating to prevent oxygen from entering the disc core.

C) MINOR REPAIRS ON ALL DISCS

Minor repairs to all grooves and damage on CCM and CCB discs are possible.

D) NEW! MINOR REPAIR OF LAYERS ON CCB DISCS.

Repairs of damaged layers on CCB discs.

Very demanding and limited production. Only 20 pieces / month. Reservations are accepted 1 month in advance.

(Contact us for more information).

  • The damage to the friction surface cannot exceed 50 mm.
  • Local damage to the disc margin, the diameter must not exceed 50 mm.

E) RACING TREATMENT

CCM discs can be additionally treated with the so-called RACING TREATMENT on request.

CCM discs basically do not have an additional layer on the tread surface, so we have developed a special treatment to give CCM discs an extra layer of finish. These discs are designed for use on the racetrack.

F) CHANGING BRAKE LININGS

Replacing brake linings when refurbishing or upgrading a carbon disc is essential. Brake linings or pads leave their marks on the disc and create grooves. This is why brake linings also need to be replaced to prolong the life of the disc. We offer competitive prices on supply and a wide choice of manufacturers. We can also supply original parts from the manufacturer.

H) REFURBISHING FIXINGS

We charge according to the amount of work required.
